Start Your Own Justice Coalition

Justice Coalitions do not need to look like the CJC or Valley Justice Coalition. A Justice Coalition can be adapted to meet the needs local advocates identify.

Our Process

  1. 1Announce your first virtual gathering and set a date a few months out
  2. 2Build an email list of people interested in local justice work
  3. 3Launch and maintain a rhythm of meeting virtually (twice-monthly) and in-person for summits (quarterly)
  4. 4Adapt to meet local needs — every coalition looks different

Initiatives to Consider

  • Regular gatherings (in-person, virtual, or both)
  • Hosting speakers to share expertise at meetings
  • Newsletter gathering local justice-related events
  • Topic-specific in-person summits
  • Rapid-response local organizing
  • Presence at local civic spaces (City Council, school board, jail board)
  • General Assembly engagement for justice-related bills
  • Being a bridge between justice-minded individuals and organizations
